"My life has changed since the workshop, I thought my stress was work based but now i realise i've had anxiety all my life. I now appreciate my world and the calmness in it. I didn't realise there was another way of existing but now i have it and its wonderful"
"I found the workshop very useful! I think that even if a person does not suffer from chronic anxiety that they will definitely benefit from some of the skills that are taught in the session and the additional level of mindfulness that is installed by taking part. I would highly recommend this to others". Jack
"My initial reason for attending the workshop to see if my habit of always over thinking things was a possible indicator of any potential anxiety issues. Not for a moment did I think I was suffering from anxiety. The presentation/workshop that John gave was very interesting, it certainly went a long way to dispelling any pre conceived ideas I may have had regarding anxiety. Sitting in the room with my colleagues who were quite candid, honest and open regarding living with anxiety everyday was a real eye opener and it makes you realise how ignorant you can be to an illness you cannot see.
The whole presentation was very relaxed and the testimony John gave to his own journey through diagnosis and subsequent treatment was pretty unique. You did come away at the end feeling quite empowered and a little bit wiser." Tim

CLIENT REVIEWS FROM INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Client 1- Alcohol addiction, Bulimia, Anxiety, Relationship issues
I had been suffering with anxiety and depression almost all of my adult life before I began my sessions with John. I was sceptical that any type of counselling or therapy could help my situation as I believed my current mind-set was so ingrained I was more than likely beyond help. It wasn’t until I hit my rock bottom that I was convinced to give it a try, a decision I wish I had made myself and years prior.
Upon beginning with John he managed to allay my initial fears that what I was going through was beyond help. Immediately he assured me that by working together in one on one sessions and by using the tools he would provide that not only would I come to see my anxiety and depression was workable but that I could eventually begin to manage my emotions and embrace and learn from the decisions I made.
Removing the barrier of what I perceived to be irreversible self-deprecating mistakes was met head on with CBT and also hypnotherapy, something I was extremely sceptical of at the beginning but quickly realised did help. As time went on and our sessions progressed I was still unable to see that I was in fact making positive progress, however through utilising my own written self-analysis, John made my emotional improvement measurable, real and believable even to me. I came to see that the ways in which I was self-medicating with alcohol and regulating self-image with bulimia were not positive in any way and that in fact they were keeping me held in a vicious cycle.
I had come to John believing that I was ruled by emotions and that they could not be controlled. However that word control became pivotal in helping me realise I was capable of processing and handling emotions in a constructive and logical way. Through this control I became more self-aware and also more emotionally available to the people around me and the people I cared for most by letting them help me the way they had wished to do but I hadn’t allowed.
Without John’s help in breaking a self-imposed stigma relating to mental health I may never have been able to open up to those I love the most. My relationships were almost all emotionally vacant but now, as a more honest and open person, I find myself loved and respected just as much as I was before, only now I can see it, embrace it and reciprocate.
Above all John has helped me realise that I do not need to live up to the unattainable perfect self-image I had always compared myself to. I now accept myself for who I am, flaws and qualities, ups and downs, without ever beating myself up for making mistakes. Rather, I accept my mistakes as normal and simply human, knowing that my mental health much like my physical health, needs regular and proactive work in order to maintain.
The difference between the person I was when I first walked through John’s door and the person I am now is dramatic, in a positively empowering way. Thank you for providing me with the tools and confident self-belief that I am not a terrible person or burden on others but rather I am a good man who like anyone else just needs to work mindfully to manage their emotions and their mental health.
Client 2 -OCD, Anxiety and Grief
I was my version of you reading this recommendation. I made the phone call that I needed to make but didn’t want to, I made that first car journey wanting to turn back at every opportunity, I attended the first appointment and hoped I could find something drastically wrong with him that would allow me to justify why I didn’t have to go back. I listened and nodded at the right times when he suggested I had the strength to make this work - but was really thinking that he had no idea how complex I was and that he had never met anyone like me before.
Turns out he knew what he was talking about.
I needed; Friendly but straight- talking, energetic but calm, caring but tough, structure but freedom within in it, to be listened to but to be challenged. John delivered what was best for me and I am very confident in saying he can do the same for you.
Working with John is one of the best decisions I have ever made. He is a great therapist and great human being.”
